About Hunter Deorum

Hunter Deorum is a multimedia artist whose expertise spans illustration, graphic design, and animation. His distinctive approach to contemporary art engages audiences in a unique and meaningful way, making his work both thought-provoking and visually captivating.

Hunter’s work has been featured in various galleries and institutions, including Wolverhampton Art Gallery (2018), Citizens Photography (2020), Staffordshire University (2022), Staffordshire University Prospectus (2023), Wolverhampton University (2024), Boomer Gallery London (2024), Wolverhampton Arts Centre (2024), AKA Fine Art Contemporary Cambridge (2024), Art-Collide (2024), Art Expo Wolverhampton and Shewsbury Arts Trail. His articles have also been published in The Visual Arts Journal Issue 12 (2024) as well as Chewing The Fat Issue 06 (2024), Artists Responding To Issue 13 (2025) and Haus A Rest Issue 58 (2025). Additionally, he was awarded the Wolverhampton Society of Artists Jarvis Prize (2024) for his investigation into the relationship between psychology and fine art.

Throughout his career, Deorum has had the privilege of working with charitable organisations like The Good Shepherd Charity and SUIT Men’s Mental Health to raise awareness and create impactful conversations through art. Adding to this, he has also donated multiple pieces of work to art auctions organised by charities, including the Children’s Hospice in Cambridge and others. By collaborating with these causes, he's been able to use his work as a platform for social change, supporting mental health initiatives and helping those that need it most.

Hunter Deorum ability to combine multiple influences into a cohesive body of work showcases his artistic talent. He challenges traditional perspectives and invites audiences to consider the complexities of the human experience from a fresh perspective.

Hunter, founder and creative lead, established Deorum Studios in 2024 as a sole trader before transforming it into Deorum Studios CIC this year to better support our community-focused mission. As a purpose-driven arts organisation based in the West Midlands, we create meaningful projects combining digital art, illustration, animation, and socially engaged creativity. 2025 - Present

MA Visual Communication
Wolverhampton University

This postgraduate course will build on Hunter’s existing creative practice, focusing on advanced design theory, narrative development, and visual communication strategies within socially engaged and community-centred contexts.

2021 - 2024

BA (Hons) Fine Art

Grade: 72%

Wolverhampton University

​

This degree combined traditional fine art practice with psychological theory, exploring the relationship between visual art and cognitive/emotional response. The course included modules in experimental media, visual culture, critical theory, art history, installation, and socially engaged practice, with a final major project centred on trauma, memory, and visual storytelling.

2024

Level 3 Digital Marketing & Web Design

Grade: Distinction
Netcom Training

This intensive course focused on digital marketing strategy, content creation, social media management, SEO, PPC, email marketing, and web development. It included practical work with platforms such as Google Ads, WordPress, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, and Adobe Creative Suite, alongside training in analytics, keyword research, and campaign optimisation.

2020 - 2021

UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Digital Imaging

Grade: Merit

City of Wolverhampton College

​

A course specialising in digital imaging and visual communication, with modules in photography, image manipulation, graphic design, narrative illustration, and media production. The course culminated in a final major project and portfolio assessment, focused on visual identity and branding through digital media.

2018 - 2020

UAL Level 3 Diploma in Digital Imaging

Grade: Distinction

City of Wolverhampton College

This diploma introduced the foundations of digital media, covering basic principles of design, digital photography, Photoshop, and layout. Emphasis was placed on developing a strong personal style and technical ability within creative software and media production.

2017-2018

Level 2 Technical Diploma in Creative Media Production

Grade: Distinction

Fareham College

This course provided an introduction to the creative media industry, with practical modules in video editing, audio production, storytelling, and media research. It supported a strong understanding of the pre-production, production, and post-production process in both digital and broadcast media.
